La Casita , historia / The little house , its history
Si, La Casita porque así la llaman y porque no hay otra en todo mi entorno y también da nombre al cuarto de mi casa donde se halla . Esta es una afición en solitario, es también un sueño de niña desbloqueado , ya está "terminada ".
Yes, La Casita, because that's what it's called and because there's nothing else like it in my area, so everyone knows it and it's also the name of the room in my house where it's located. It is a solitary hobby, it is also a childhood dream, it is already 'finished'.
Desde muy niña siempre jugué haciendo casitas, las hacía en cualquier esquina , cualquier lugar , cualquier material que encontrara a mano : patio de recreo, esquina de una habitación, repisa de una ventana, dentro de un armario .... daba igual , el caso era construir y decorar y por último poner mis muñecas .
Since I was a child I always played making little houses, I made them in any corner, any place, any material I could find at hand: playground, corner of a room, window ledge, inside a cupboard .... it didn't matter, the point was to build and decorate and finally to put my dolls in them.
Una calurosa tarde de agosto , sonó el teléfono de rosca que colgaba en el estrecho pasillo de la casa familiar , era una conferencia telefónica.Corria el año 1992, entonces no había móviles ni nada que se le pareciera , ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Una conferencia desde Colorado, Texas !!!!!! Era mi hermana Elena . Había ido alli ese verano con el pretexto de aprender inglés.
----- Lulú , no te lo vas a creer , sabes lo que he visto ? ... Un poblado de casas de muñecas !!!! Hay de todooooo , muuuuchassss ! Tu alucinarias !!!!
Y casi sin dejarme respirar ni que yo contestara me dijo que vendían casitas, que había algunas "ofertas de kits para montar " y que si quería me compraba una , Solo acerté a decir SI !!! Y no recuerdo mucho más de la conversación... Me llegó meses después enviada por barco .Tuve que irla a buscar a la oficina de correos y volver en taxi . Era una caja de 80x 50 x 20 que pesaba lo suyo . Estaba llena de planchas de madera precortadas, de muy buena madera .De ahí tenía que salir mi casita ! La foto de la tapa no me podía gustar más! Era una casa victoriana preciosa.
One hot August afternoon, the screw phone that hung in the narrow hallway of the family home rang, it was a conference call, it was 1992, there were no mobile phones or anything like that then, A conference call from Colorado, Texas !!!!!! It was my sister Elena. She had gone there that summer on the pretext of learning English.
----- Lulu, you won't believe it, do you know what I saw? ... A village of dollhouses !!!! There's everything, lots and lots of it! You would freak out !!!!
And almost without letting me breathe or answer, she told me that they sold houses, that there were some 'offers of kits to assemble' and that if I wanted to buy one, I just said YES !!!! And I don't remember much else about the conversation .... It arrived months later, sent by ship, I had to go to the post office to collect it and take a taxi back. It was a box of 80 x 50 x 50 x 20 which weighed a lot. It was full of pre-cut wooden planks, very good wood, and that's where my little house had to come from! I couldn't like the picture on the lid more! It was a lovely Victorian house.
Con dos criaturas pequeñas de 2 y 4 años y trabajando de profesora no me daba la vida así que la Casita se quedó dormida en un armario hasta que llego a mi vida Ascen.Ascen era una niña ( 14 años ) maravillosa que cogí a modo de chica "au pair " , ella me ayudaba mucho en casa con los niños y en ese momento pude empezar a montar mi casita : Lulihome .
With two small children of 2 and 4 years old and working as a teacher I couldn't make a living so the Casita stayed asleep in a cupboard until Ascen came into my life. Ascen was a wonderful girl (14 years old) that I took as an ‘au pair’ girl, she helped me a lot at home with the children and at that moment I could start to set up my little house: Lulihome.
Y .... lo que es el poder de la ilusión !!!!!!
Por fin la empecé y tengo que contar en qué condiciones :
Lo primero de todo quitándole horas al sueño , por la noche . Me costó 8 horas traducir las instrucciones de montaje y eso que yo sabía inglés! Pero no tenia ni idea de vocabulario de bricolaje.Un folleto de 10 páginas dobles Así que tuve el capricho de anotar las horas.
Lo segundo , sin herramientas. Ni idea de que existían ingleteadoras, cuters, etc . Compraba sierras en los chinos .
Lo tercero : sin espacio , sin mesa . Nuestro piso entonces era muy pequeño, así que la monte en el suelo en el espacio que quedaba entre el pie de la cama y el armario.
Aún así y todo yo andaba feliz . Era 1994. Ha habido largos periodos de inactividad, años incluso sin poder hacer nada.
Me ha llevado 31 años discontinuos llegar aquí por ahora con mi casita y todavía tengo mucho que hacer

And ......what is the power of illusion !!!!!! I finally started it and I have to tell you in which conditions
First of all by taking hours of sleep at night. It took me 8 hours to translate the assembly instructions and I knew English! But I had no idea of DIY vocabulary, a booklet of 10 double pages, so I had the whim to write down the hours.
Secondly, no tools. I had no idea that miter saws, cutters, etc. existed. I bought saws in the Chinese shops.
The third thing: no space, no table. Our flat at that time was very small, so I set it up on the floor in the space between the foot of the bed and the wardrobe.
Even so, I was still happy. It was 1994. There have been long periods of inactivity, years without even being able to do anything.
It's taken me 31 years on and off to get this far with my little house and I still have a lot to do.
