De como hice las baldosas./ How I made the tiles.

Es fácil y breve.
La gomaeva blanca normal y corriente.


It's very easy and quick.
The white  EVA foam , simple, plain .

Dos intentos de encontrar la escala adecuada: uno sobre papel y otro sobre cartón (de caja de zapatos ). Al final , puesto sobre la misma cocina,  la medida que más me convenció fue de 1cm x 1cm .

Two attempts to find out the true scale : one on paper and  another one on a cardboard.

 At least I found the 1cm x1cm  as the most suitable scale.

     Con las paredes de gomaeva ya recortadas marqué los puntos de 1cm. en los cuatro bordes de cada pared .Primero en horizontal y luego en vertical. Después con ayuda de una buena regla, con cuidado, sujetándola fuerte (sin hundirla ) para que no se desviara el surco, con una brocheta iba marcando la línea que unía los puntos de extremo a extremo. Así quedaron dibujadas las baldosas.


Once I had the EVA foam  walls cut I pointed 1cm by 1cm  in each side (in all four). And I did first the horizontal level and then the vertical one . After that , with a very good ruler,  holding it strongly but carefully (watch out not to press too much ! ) I signaled the line from one point to the other , I did it with a stick skewer.
 Here we are : the lines are drawn.

Ya tenía las paredes, ahora tocaba encontrar como darle el aspecto de alicatado y además antiguo

Now it is time to get the tiles look !    

Primero le dí una capa de Alkil, maravilloso producto que encontré en los tutoriales de MaraGVerdugo.

A mi me ha servido para muchas cosas entre otras para retocar las tejas de la casa dándoles un cierto brillo y pegándolas a la vez.

El Alkil evitará que amarillee el blanco y hace de fijador.

Lo dejé secar por lo menos un día.

First a coat of this wonderful product : Alkil.

 I discovered it thanks to MaraGVerdugo. It has been very useful for me, for example I fixed all the tiles of the roof of my dollhouse and it gave them some bright .
Alkil will also  avoid the  yellowing from the light.


I let it dry for almost a day.

Así quedaba solo con la capa de Alkil.

This is how it looked like with just the coat of Alkil.

Probé a darle brillo con muchas cosas: desde esmalte de uñas hasta este brillo de Decopatch , pero era excesivo, no me gustó. Bonito,  pero poco realista en mi opinión.

I tried with many products to get the right bright : nail varnish, this Decopatch gloss vitrificator, but it was too much shine. Nice but not realistic. 

Probé con los barnices en spray que había  leído en Pequeñeces .Primero barniz con brillo: el de la izquierda; a la derecha sin brillo y comparando ........ nada ! ¡ ni lo uno ni lo otro !

I tried with  spray varnish as I knew from  Pequeñeces. First of all I spread gloss on the left, second, I repeated it  with matt on the right, and comparing ..... neither one nor the other! 

Estos son los barnices que encontré en una ferretería, algo más baratos que en otros sitios.

These are the spray varnish Gloss and Matt that I found in a hardware shop, cheaper than others.

Entonces se me ocurrió darle primero barniz con brillo  (Gloss ) y luego matizar dándole encima  el sin brillo ( Matt )  y acerté para mi gusto, de pura casualidad , estas cosas pasan !

And then it came across the idea to spread  gloss varnish fisrt and after that spread  matt varnish in order to tinge the gloss. the result was great : by chance !                  I liked it  ......  these things sometimes happen this way!

Ahora viene cuando hay que darle el toque final que le da el efecto realista : Hay que repasar las líneas de las baldosas otra vez con la brocheta. ¿Para qué ? pues para romper el brillo del barniz solo en las lineas y así dar el aspecto total de juntas de baldosas.
Cuidado de no apretar mucho! , se puede romper la gomaeva y tendríais que repetir la pared otra vez !

Now it's time to give the final touch which gives the realistic effect  . You have to go over the lines with the stick skewer again , why  ? because you have to break the gloss in  the lines as it will look like tiling.
Be sure do not press too much , the EVA foam will be broken and you might need to repeat the whole wall !

Yo pegué la pared de gomaeva sobre cartonmat y así la coloqué en la cocina de manera que aguanta bien el peso de los muebles colgados y además es desmontable , cosa que no me viene mal en el caso de que quiera algún cambio.

I stuck the EVA foam walls in cartonmat before placing it in my kitchen so now they can support the hinged furnitures without problems and even I could  make any change if I so wanted in the future.

El hall del 2º piso / upstairs hall

           

  Esta es la 2ª habitación que hice y se nota. :(  .Calculo que sería en al año 95 ó 96.
 
                                   
 Con esta escena tengo sentimientos encontrados, por una parte quitaría  muchos fallos ya que al hacerla  no tenía ninguna experiencia  ni tampoco ninguna ayuda.Y por otra me da pena cambiarla pues es parte de mi historia, de mi evolución.

This is the second room I 've ever made and you can easily notice , ha,ha,ha... I have a contrast of feelings about it. It has a lot of mistakes, should I change them ?, however it is  part of my dollhouse history, my own evolution .
It was in 1995 or 1996 , I think

Me empeñé en hacer yo sola todo lo que entonces no encontraba y aquí se reúnen muchas cosas hechas por mi, (¡ un verdadero experimento!), por primera vez como la columna y el jarrón-maceta , las ménsulas. Nunca antes había modelado, si exceptúamos algún pequeño intento en la escuela.

El estilizado jarrón del fondo es , junto a los platos de las ménsulas , unos pendientes de cloisoné "destrozados " para tal fin .No es la primera vez que destrozo algo para luego ponerlo en esta casita, para disgusto de mis familiares !

I strive to make myself everything I couldn't find and here you can see  big stuff made by myself at the first time, such a big experiment !

The stylized vase in front and the plates on brackets come from a pair of earrings that I "destroyed " to make them. It isn' t the first time I do things like this for my dollhouse , you know, true love  :)

Hasta que no decida de que  color va a ser la carpintería he dejado la barandilla en tono natural.

I don't know yet what colour the wood is going to be so meanwhile it is left in natural colour.

Acabo de colocar la escalera, que  no esta pegada todavía pues estoy planeando poner otra que me gusta más.Tampoco es la original que venía con la casa , que tampoco  me gustó, :(  

Ohhhhh! ¿ tengo un problema con las escaleras ? jajaja...!

I have already set the stair which is not glued yet because I'm thinking about another one that I like best. It isn`t the original of the house  either, that one I didn't like too , :(  

 OMG ! Have I a problem with stairs ? ha,ha,ha .... !

Con esta idea hice los arranques de la escalera. Es un abalorio y un tape de muestra de perfume/colonia de esos que te dan de promoción. Antes  de pegarlos los pinté de blanco.

I made the finicials   knobs  ladder with this idea , the top is a bead, the round plastic is a top from a commercial bottle of perfum those they give you " not for sale".Before I  painted them in white.

My "special " broom   LOL

El florero esta hecho con uno de esos saleros que daban en el Ave , al principio cuando se inaguró. Le pegué una puntilla encima que antes había pintado de dorado.Esta técnica la repetí en la lámpara.

The vase is made from a litle salt shaker , those they gave you in the AVE (high speed train in Spain ), at the beginning when it was opened. Painted with nails polish and recovered with a lace painted in gold before glued in  it.

Esta mesa la hice yo, con madera de balsa y una cenefa de metal que encontré en una ferretería. Las patas son compradas de kit y transformadas con la moldura y un poco de alambre dorado.

I made this table from balsa wood and a metal stripe I found in a hardware store. The legs were purchased in a kit and makeover with wiring metal and the same edging.

El reloj es un kit que compre por correo , lo monté y le puse una esfera de un reloj estropeado que ya tenía.Como no daba la altura ideal tuve que añadirle una "peana".

The granfather clock was a kit purchased by post.I assambled it and sat a clock face  from an old real one.As it was smaller for the room I had to add a base .

Le tengo un cariño especial a esta lámpara pues me la regaló uno de mis hijos cuando era adolescente  con su primer dinero ganado.Los componentes son de Bindels. La moldura es un tapón de plástico al que le pegué una puntilla pintada de dorado.

I have a special feeling with this lamp: it was a gift from one of my teens sons with his first money owned. Components are from Bindels. The ceiling carving is a plastic lid recovered by a lace. The lace was painted in gold before.

Al techo era de color rosa pálido pero me salió una mancha y  ha estado en blanco hasta que he vuelto a encontrar el mismo tono de cartulina rosa.Por eso veis las  fotos con distinto techo.

At first the ceiling was in a pink colour but a stain appeared  and I had to change it. I have found the same colour at least and that's because you can see the ceiling in different colours.

Este sofá también lo hice "a las bravas"  sin haber hecho nada antes parecido, sin ningún plano , nada ....

Recuerdo que fue en unas vacaciones de Semana Santa. 

Que decir de la columna y de las ménsulas ?  lo mismo!!!!!, no había tocado el fimo antes , o lo que fuera, que ya no me acuerdo, y también el jarrón macetero de la derecha .

The sofa is also my first time , "in the hard way", I had never done before nothing like that, without plans or measures, nothing at all. I remember it was during   Easter holidays. The same for the colunm and the brackets .

Hice el suelo con un fieltro gris y queda muy bien simulando moqueta.Las molduras rosa que enmarcan el papel de flores son palos de brocheta.
Espero que un día cuando tenga la casa terminada, me dedicaré a ponerle detalles para hacerla "más vivida"  Estoy pensando en el pomo de esta puerta .......



I made the floor with fabric felt in grey ,I think it fits well like carpet.The pink frames of the  flowers wall paper are from stick skewer.
One day, when I  finish my dollhouse, I will complete it with lots of litle things to make it " more lived", such as the round konb for this door ....... 

 Para hacer la planta de la izquierda utilicé hojas de una planta mas grande , fui recortando hasta que conseguí el tamaño ideal y luego las pegué una a una.



I made the plant on the left from one that was bigger , I was cutting it until I got the right size, then I glued leaf by leaf.

La cenefa la encontré en una mercería; soy muy aficionada a entrar en mercerías y ferreterías por si encuentro algo .......
La parte de arriba de la pared es papel pintado para casas de muñecas pero la de abajo es tela de patchwork


I found the trim in a lace shop, I am very fond coming into ribbon, lace shops and hardware shops, just in case  I usually find interesting things.

The part on top is dollhouse wallpaper but the down one  is from patchwork fabric.
